Tuned engines need a stronger clutch that can handle the increased torque and horsepower. This is achieved by increasing the friction surface (4 instead of 3 discs) and/or by increasing the pressure (stronger springs). Often the clutch basket has to be reinforced, to prevent distortion by big forces at higher rpm.

Vespa PX clutch
We recommend the use of a 4 disc clutch with harder springs in the Vespa PX if using a racing exhaust or reaching 14 hp on the rear wheel. (see Onlineshop). It is also recommended to brace the clutch basket with a steel ring to prevent distortion.

Vespa Cosa clutch
We recommend to brace the Vespa Cosa clutch as well. Additionally it is recommended to reinforce the bond of the basket by adding welds to the riveted bond with the internal element. We offer harder springs in 3 versions, XL and XXL (see Onlineshop).

Vespa Smallframe clutch
We prefer the XL2 clutch. These clutch works like the Cosa clutch and has got 6 springs instead of one big in the center. Also available upgraded clutch springs for the XL clutch (see Onlineshop). It is important that the small clutch basket sits really well on the secondary shaft. 2 small (!!) drops of Loctite 603 (see Onlineshop) will add some extra support for the basket on the secondary shaft.

Lambretta clutch
We rebuild SX/LI/TV clutch pressure plates to GP (big pressure pin). The indian new plates are very bad and not usable.

The Lambretta clutch is easy to modify. It is relatively easy to build a 5 disc clutch into the engine. This requires the use of 5 thin cork discs and 4 thin steel discs (see Onlineshop). Additionaly the large clutch basket has to be milled a little bit deeper. For this project a GP clutch basket is required, since they are in one piece. We also offer these baskets (already modified) in our Onlineshop .

Modify your clutch basket for 5 discs. - 30 EURO
