Tuning
Generally there are two systems of intakes, membrane (or reed valve) and slide valve.
slide valve
The intakes blocks for this type of intake are very simple. The rotation of the crankshaft or movement of the piston opens and closes the intake for a certain part of it’s rotation. The timing of the system is fixed, which makes the motor inflexible and only provides for a small usable rpm range.
reed intake
The timing in this type of intake is flexible. This is an enormous advantage, since it allows for the motor to breathe more when it needs to. Thus the usable rpm range grows and the motor also gains a lot of power.
We recommend Tassinari reed valves, due to their innovative design they work extremely well (see Onlineshop). We can get all Tassinari reed valves within best time. Also see: www.mototassinari.com.
MMW reed blocks (see Onlineshop) with connector piece for the carburetor Vespa PX / T 5 for 30 mm carburetor. In this application we use a Yamaha RD 350 reed. We also have a Tassinari reed valve available for this application.
