Watercooling

Polini offers 4 liquid cooled cylinders that are suitable for use on Vespa motors. Malossi only offers one good cylinder. A smallframe Vespa has a stroke of 51.0 mm or 53.5 mm with an excentric low end. Polini offers the best cylinders for this application. With a lot of modifications it is possible to mount a 54.5mm stroke cylinder on a PX motor. The Problem is, that the original stroke here is 57.0 mm for the PX125-200 and 48mm on the PX80. It is also possible to mount such a cylinder on a Vespa T5 motor, that has a stock stroke of 52mm. Unfortunately there are no solid circle crankshafts for the T5. So only the Honda NSR Cylinder is feasible for the T5, since it also runs with crankcase intake. The stroke for the T5 can be extended up to 56.5mm with an excentric low end, which is still doable with a standard stroke of 54.5 mm on this cylinder.

We recommend the Polini WMX cylinder for smallframe applications, since it almost has the stock stroke with its 50.6 mm. For PX motors the Aprilia Replica and the Honda NSR are best, since they are closer to the 57mm stock stroke.

In the Gallery you can see a Smallframe Vespa with an original 125ccm Aprilia Replica cylinder. All modifications were done by worb5.

For the modifications of your case halfs (welding, finishing, milling, planing and aligning and cutting of cylinder bolt threads, etc.) we charge about 650 EURO. See motors (Smallframe Polini H20, Lambretta Rotax, PX H20 72,5 mm Conversion, ...)

Usually the racing cylinder Kits require a membrane and the "water cover" for the cylinder head. Usually the original covers and membranes are used with those kits. This is why the kits do not include these parts. A head ("water cover") costs about 130 EURO and a Membrane 95 EURO. Both parts are available from Cagiva or Aprilia as original spare parts.

Ideally we custom build an intake, so that the carburetor sits perfectly. 85 EURO.

A perfectly tuned exhaust, hand build here by us starts at 900 EURO.

This cylinder is for Aprilia AF 125 - ETX 125 - RED ROSE 125 (88):
It has NO exhaust power valve. The rated engine output is 29 hp ati 9.400 rpm. Maximum 11.000 rpm. It is layed out for a stroke of 54 mm and has a bore of 60 mm. On a Smallframe with 51 mm (!!!!) stroke and a correctly tuned exhaust 24 hp are achievable. This is a rear wheel power of circa 20 hp. For use the smallframe the excentric low ends are a good fit here, since they increase the stroke of the crankshaft to 53.5 mm. ==> Ask for more details !!!

ROTAX 123 (up to 1997) oder ROTAX 122 (from 1998): This cylinder is for Aprilia AF1 125 REPLICA - 125 SPORT PRO. - AF1 125 SINTESI - AF1 125 FUTURA - EUROPA 125 - PEGASO 125 - RED ROSE 125 (89) - RS 125 EXTREMA. It has an exhaust power valve. The rated power is 37 hp at 10.200 rpm. Maximum 12.000 rpm. It is layed out for a stroke of 54,5 mm and has a bore of 60 mm. On a Smallframe with 51 mm (!!!!) stroke and a correctly tuned exhaust 31 hp are achievable. This is a rear wheel power of circa 27 hp. For use the smallframe the excentric low ends are a good fit here, since they increase the stroke of the crankshaft to 53.5 mm. ==> Ask for more details !!!

It has a rated power of 34,1 hp at 9.300 rpm. Maximum 11.600 rpm. It is layed out for a stroke of 50,6 mm and has a bore of 64 mm. On a Smallframe with 51 mm (!!!!) stroke and a correctly tuned exhaust 34 hp are achievable. This is a rear wheel power of circa 29 hp.

This cylinder is for a Honda NSR 125 KY4 version.

*** This cylinder is only useable for crankcase intake !!! ***

The cylinder has an exhaust power valve. It has a rated power of 34,3 hp at 10.200 rpm. Maximum 11.900 rpm. It is layed out for a stroke of 54.5 mm and has a bore of 60 mm. On a Smallframe with 51 mm (!!!!) stroke and a correctly tuned exhaust 29 hp are achievable. This is a rear wheel power of circa 25 hp. On a Vespa T 5 with 52 mm (or 56.5 mm long stroke T 5) stroke or Vespa PX with 57 mm stroke the power at the rear wheel may rise a few p with a correctly tuned exhaust. On the PX or T 5 Models a flow optimized crankcase should be used. We recommend the use of a excentric low end for the crankcase, to increase the stroke to 53.5 mm. ==> Ask for more details !!!

*** MALOSSI ***

This cylinder is for a Honda NSR 125.

*** This cylinder is only useable for crankcase intake !!! ***

It has an exhaust power valve. Compared to the Polini NSR cylinder it has a lot of more power, since it has a bore of 65mm. All other features of this cylinder (stroke) are similar to the Polini NSR cylinder.

Again:

To complete the cylinder kits, all five require a membrane that costs 105 EURO.

The kit “Aprilia AF 125” and the kit “Cagiva WMX” require an original cylinder head.

For the kit “Aprilia AF1 REPLICA” a so called "water cover" is required. Price for the head and "water cover" is circa 139 EURO.
