Tuning
General
It is important that rotors or flywheels are balanced. If these are nt balanced they produce vibrations and high forces that may cause bearing damage or even breaking off of the shaft.
Basicly we want to show you here the differences of the flywheels. We have tested on a full tuned PX 200 motor with about 27 hp on rear wheel. We have flash and set up the ignition when we have a change.
Polrad fine balancing
We have different mandrels to balance rotors and flywheels on our balancing equipmet. To accomplish the optimal balance we remove material from the correct areas and most of the time by drilling. Especially shaved rotors (i.e. for liquid cooled Vespa PX) need to be balanced to warrant a smooth ride. Also other rotors can be balanced, if necessary we build a custom mandrel.

Lambretta AF rotor
It is very difficult to repair the fins on the Lambretta rotors. The fins are very close to each other, which makes it impossible to reach with a welder. Our solution is to mount a ring of plastic fins from Piaggio. All aluminium fins are removed and a step to center the ring is turned. The ring is then mounted to the rotor with screws. Finally the rotor is fine balanced.
Fit a plastic fin ring to your own AF rotor and fine balancing. - 150 EURO
Lambretta Indian rotor
Same procedure as above but a lot more complicated since the indian rotors are constructed differently. A special adapter ring has to be turned to adapt the rotor. Weight reduction circa 350gram.
Fit a plastic fin ring to your own indian rotor and fine balancing. - 180 EURO
Rebuild aluminium fin
If a fin is broken off your rotor we can either reattach or rebuild it. This works very well on PK rotors.
Rebuild fins by welding - from 25 EURO
Lambretta modifying and balancing Indian rotor
The indian rotors have very large fins which in the worst case rub on the inside of the rotor covers. There is a variety of covers in different heights, but most of the time the fins have to be shortened (turning)
