DYNAMOMETER

We have a state-of-the-art performance test stand p4 from Amerschläger. He has been permanently installed in the house for years. The test bench has the latest software and state-of-the-art equipment, such as soundproofed rooms, exhaust gas extraction, high-performance aerators for water-cooled vehicles, roller brakes and automatic starters.

The climatic box connected to the PC system of the test bench continuously detects air temperature, air pressure and humidity. These values are automatically combined to form a climate correction value. This value correlates the measured power to standard environmental values so that low temperature, high humidity, and high air pressure results are equal with high temperature, low humidity, and low air pressure measurements. Thus the measurement is independent of current weather influences.

We have some test frames for Vespa and also for Lambretta engines, in order to be able to adjust also delivered engines. Therefore, it is not always necessary to supply the whole vehicle in order to be able to make an engine adjustment.

It is also possible to INCLUDE the actual possible maximum speed. No test rig can actually determine this because the wind resistance is not taken into account. For example, a 5 HP Mofa only long enough to reach 160 km / h on the test rig. On the road, however, at this speed you do not get against the wind pressure. 15 hp (in stooped posture) should still be able to show the 5 HP example moped at 160 km / h.

The actual tuning of the ignition and the carburettor requires a lot of experience in the handling of engines and above all with the engine running. A power measurement via motor tuning can help.
Whether the dripping is too bold or too lean is in some cases not so easy to interpret. The ignition is first set and then the carburetor.
Customer vehicles are generally relatively tame in the ignition setting, i.e.. cold set. The carburettor is tendenziell a hint bold to avoid motor damage (Klemmer, Fresser). In racing, of course, the limits of feasibility have to be set.

There are 2 measurement methods. At the first, the vehicle is accelerated over all gears. Here you can see, if the gear reduction is correct.

Sometimes the fourth gear is too long, and it is necessary to shift to the third gear for light-haul drivers. Likewise, it is also occasionally so that the transmission is too short and the scooter despite 25 hp only 110 km / h drives. This estimation is a very important function of power measurement over speed.

Here a few km / h power measurements:

The actually more important function of the test stand is the power measurements over the speed. The performance curve reflects the direct motor characteristics. In the same way, the applied torque is determined in this mode. In the so-called speed mode, the actual tuning of the carburettor spraying is performed. From fat to lean to avoid engine damage.
A lot has to be changed with conventional carburetors:

- throttle
- Sliding needle
- Mixing tube
- Secondary nozzle
- Main nozzle
- Mixing screw
- Standpipe screw

Unfortunately, it is so that in almost all cases of tuning, the complete carburettor assembly has to be adapted. With only times quickly exchanged the main nozzle 3 times it is not done.

At the end of the vote, the spark plug pattern checks whether the air-fuel ratio is actually correct. A brown candle is desirable.

It is also possible to hire the test ground by the hour. After a brief introduction into the software, vehicles can be tuned. A basic knowledge about ignition, carburettor, variomatics, etc. is, of course, required. Of course, we can also offer useful tips from time to time.
