SHEET METAL WORKS

We perform all sheet metal work ourselves. It is possible to insert new metal parts into the Vespa frame or to renew the leg shield completely.

All frame components are checked for delays before repair. Often this is very complex - in some cases not possible without the vehicle with straight (!!!) steering column and a motor with intact silent blocks to use and to assess. We have already got a lot of complete vehicles in our workshop whose frame was completely distorted.
But there is always a satisfactory solution for completely distorted vehicles.

These vehicles must then be disassembled, straightened and reassembled. In the case of Vespas, which are quite from the 1950s or 1960s, this elaborate repair makes sense.
Old frame components are of course shone before processing - also from the inside. After completion of the sheet metal work and adaptation work, the frames and parts are sandblasted again and immediately primed so that there is no rust formation.
A sandblasted sheet is extremely rust-prone and should not be stored for more than one day unprimed. Self-prints of a normal greasy hand make a rusty handprint. After the sandblasting, the frame is of course only touched with "once" rubber gloves and immediately primed.

It is very labor intensive to weld old frame holes. Around these holes, the material is often roughened - i.e.. it is only a few tenths of a millimeter thick. The use of hand-made repair plates is useful at this point.

A so-called dry build is very important with the Lambretta. Here the components, e.g. Frame and frame struts adjusted with the leg chikd before painting. Frame braces are very often warped and the mounting holes do not fit.

Special wishes like the placement of a large intake port (for racing) are gladly implemented. The stability is, of course, taken into consideration, since no frame cracks should occur.
In 1999 we recreated for the first time a Lambretta tube frame made of aluminum - this Lambretta successfully won several races.
